NSW debutant Nick Cotric has offered to shift to the centres to retain his Blues jumper, with Tom Trbojevic set to return from a hamstring injury this weekend.

The Canberra young gun was solid in his first State of Origin outing, an 18-14 game-one loss, but is nevertheless uncertain to keep his spot.

He only got his chance on the right wing because Manly superstar Trbojevic has spent most of the opening 12 rounds on the sidelines with a hamstring issue.

After going down in pre-season, Trbojevic missed the opening two rounds and suffered a setback after two games back, scuppering his Origin I hopes.

However he has travelled with the Sea Eagles to Townsville for Saturday's clash with North Queensland and will make his NRL comeback if he can get through Friday's captain's run.

That leaves Cotric and veteran centre Josh Morris in a tenuous position, with Trbojevic a near-certainty to be rushed back into the Blues side for game two in Perth on June 23.

Cotric has spent the majority of his first-grade career on the wing but shifted to the centres in Joey Leilua's absence in his last two Raiders games.

"We'll see what happens. I'll see how I go at club level and try to impress," Cotric said.

"I've been playing there (at centre) at club. I played it my whole juniors there so I feel pretty comfortable there."

Cotric said he was a chance to take on the Wests Tigers at Bankwest Stadium on Friday despite suffering a calf/knee strain on Wednesday night.

He said he had been cleared of a major injury and would have scans to decide if he returns to club footy against the Tigers or the following week against Cronulla.

"It was a bit sore this morning getting out of bed, but it's not as bad as they thought," Cotric said.

"My knee, structurally, is fine. It's just the back of the knee, high on the calf, I think it's just a strain-tear. It's not too bad.

"I just stepped, I felt this sharp pain go up my leg and I was a bit worried, I'd never felt anything like that before. But I started warming up and it felt right to go."
