Nico had nothing on me: Hamilton

He may not win the title but Lewis Hamilton is confident that if not for mechanical problems hampering his year he would again have Nico Rosberg's number.

Lewis Hamilton led from start to finish in Brazil and even though he concedes the F1 championship is likely out of his reach he couldn't help but fire a shot at teammate Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton lamenting the mechanical issues that he believes have cost him another world title before suggesting Rosberg, while at his own peak has nothing on the Briton.

"I am happy that I beat everyone, and I am happy that, with the same car as Nico - and Nico is driving at his best right now - he had nothing on me," Hamilton said.

"Nico is doing all he has to do. He has finished every race, not had any problems, whereas I have."

As things stand Rosberg leads the drivers' championship by 12 points and simply needs to finish third, no matter what Hamilton does to emulate his father Keke, the 1982 world champion, and finally claim his first world title.

Hamilton, though still doesn't believe a win is impossible but that Rosberg, who is defending champion in Abu Dhabi will make it very difficult.

"I am in an awkward position going into the last race," Hamilton said.

"It doesn't really make a big difference if I go and drive like I do right now because I have already lost so much through the year.

"I don't give up because you never know what could happen - it is unlikely - but you never know what could happen."
