Nigerian man wins Scrabble trophy in WA

Nigerian man Wellington Jighere has won the World Scrabble Championships in Perth, taking out the trophy in four straight games.

A Nigerian man has won the World Scrabble Championships in Perth.

The World English-language Scrabble Players' Association crowned its first African winner, 36-year-old Wellington Jighere, who donned a cowboy hat during the competition as a good luck charm.

Mr Jighere defeated 30-year-old Englishman Lewis Mackay in four games straight on Sunday.
