Nine injured in bus and garbo truck smash

A bus and garbage truck collided in western Sydney and emergency services are trying to free the driver of the bus.

A bus and a garbage truck collided in Sydney's west, injuring nine people and trapping the bus driver.

Authorities were called to the accident which occurred at around 9.40am on Tuesday on Widemere Street, in Wetherill Park.

Paramedics are treating nine patients and the driver, a NSW Ambulance spokesman told AAP.

Fire & Rescue NSW confirmed crews are trying to remove the door of the bus to free the driver.

Seventeen people were reportedly onboard the bus, according to Nine Network.
