Nine-month-old girl among Easter road toll

A baby girl in Western Australia is among those killed on Australian roads this Easter long weekend, bringing the total deaths so far to 12.

A baby girl and a man running away from police are among those killed on Australian roads so far this Easter long weekend.

The nine-month-old died in hospital from injuries sustained when the car she was in rolled 15km out of Collie in Western Australia's southwest on Saturday morning.

Two adults in the car received minor injuries.

She was the second person killed in less than 24 hours on WA roads, with a 26-year-old man dying on Friday night when his car hit a tree.

Victoria recorded its third road death when a man who ran from police during a traffic stop was hit by a car on Friday night.

The 29-year-old man died in hospital on Saturday and the incident is being investigated by the homicide and major collision squads and professional standards command.

In Tasmania an 18-year-old died at the scene when the car in which he was a passenger crashed into a power pole near Birralee northwest of Launceston.

The 27-year-old driver was taken to hospital in a stable condition, suffering life-threatening head injuries.

A woman died when her car rolled on South Australia's Yorke Peninsula on Saturday morning.

In NSW two elderly men died in separate crashes.

A 71-year-old died when his car hit a tree on Saturday and a 92-year-old man died in a two-car crash on Friday.
