Nintendo's profits have dropped 36 per cent, with lacklustre video game sales in the Christmas period.
The Japanese manufacturer of Super Mario games and the Wii U game machine has reported a Y29.1 billion ($A672.12 million) profit for the October-December fiscal third quarter, down from Y45.2 billion in the same period the previous year.
The Kyoto company, which suffered a blow when its charismatic president, Satoru Iwata, died last July, kept its annual forecasts unchanged at a Y35 billion profit on Y570 billion sales for the fiscal year through March.
Quarterly sales slipped 18 per cent to Y221.5 billion ($A5.12 billion).
