No Australians were caught up in a mass shooting attack in Munich, Attorney-General George Brandis says.

An 18-year-old German-Iranian gunman killed nine people and wounded 27 in the Bavarian city on Friday night, local time.

Senator Brandis told ABC TV on Sunday no Australians were among those harmed in the attack.
