No Australians seeking Asia quake help

The Department of Foreign Affairs is not aware of any Australians seeking help after a massive quake in south Asia.

No Australians are believed to be caught up in a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake which has rocked Afghanistan and Pakistan, killing more than 200 people.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it was not aware of any Australians seeking consular help after the Afghanistan-centred quake, which has toppled buildings and knocked out power.

The department is monitoring the impact of the quake and working with local government and international partners to assess the damage in the remote and mountainous terrain.
