Charges have not been laid against an unnamed Broncos player accused of assaulting a woman known to him.

Despite media reports saying the matter is before the courts, Queensland Police confirmed no charges have been laid at this stage.

"Queensland Police are aware of an assault allegation and it's being investigated," a police spokeswoman said.

The Broncos and the NRL's integrity unit are aware of the incident.

"The club has made aware of a private matter involving a player that currently sits within a court proceeding," the Broncos said in a statement.
