No decision on Hayne, Henry say Titans

Titans star Jarryd Hayne won't face the Eels on Thursday because of injury but the clubs say no decision has been made on his - or coach Neil Henry's - futures.

Gold Coast boss Graham Annesley has told members of the embattled NRL club that the fate of Neil Henry and Jarryd Hayne has yet to be decided.

There was speculation coach Henry would be sacked sacked while star player may have played his last game for the Titans after being ruled out of Thursday's clash with former club Parramatta with an ankle injury.

The Gold Coast board met for three hours on Monday to discuss much publicised talk of a feud between Hayne and Henry before deferring a decision until next week.

Annesley said the Titans board were yet to make a decision on the pair in the video link sent to all Gold Coast members on Wednesday night.

"At this stage I don't know what the outcome of that decision will be," Annesley said.

"The board will reconvene within the next week to make a decision they believe will be in the best interests of the club which always has to be more important than the individuals concerned."

Fox Sports reported that pressure was building on the Titans board after speculation a major sponsor who pays a third of Hayne's hefty salary was threatening to cut ties with the Gold Coast due to the controversy.

Hayne will reportedly ask to be paid his full $1.2 million 2018 salary if forced out of the Titans, ruling out the chance of departing on a subsidised deal.

Annesley said the Titans board were the "only ones with all the information" and was confident they would make the right decision next week.

"There's been a lot of public comment, a lot of it has been personal comment, particularly from media commentators and there's been a fair amount of misinformation also in the public area," Annesley said.

"The club unfortunately is not in a position to engage in that public debate.

"There are many issues we have to consider and the board are currently considering.

"The board are the only ones with the information.

"It's not as simple as making a popular decision and ignoring the consequences of that decision."

News Corp Australia had reported that Henry would be sacked after the Eels game.

Henry played down the situation in his press conference on Tuesday, saying he wanted to stay with Gold Coast and denying there was any rift with Hayne.

Hayne was ruled out of the Eels clash with the ankle complaint suffered in last round's loss to St George Illawarra.

He is yet to face Parramatta since leaving his former club to pursue an NFL career in 2014, having also missed their earlier meeting this season.
