Singapore Airlines is refuting claims farting goats caused one of its aircraft to make an emergency landing.

The airline says it can't confirm "assumptions" made by aviation media that a flight en route to Kuala Lumpur from Adelaide carrying a shipment of goats was forced to divert to Bali because of the gas produced by the animals.

However, in a statement on Thursday the airline said that crew aboard the October 26 flight were alerted to the on board fire alarm system being triggered, but on inspection following landing found no evidence of fire or smoke.
