No let up for Victory in A-League: Muscat

Melbourne Victory are aiming to take as much momentum as they can into the A-League finals after their 4-1 win over Perth Glory at AAMI Park.

There will be no let up for Melbourne Victory, despite Kevin Muscat's men all but sealing second spot on the A-League ladder with their emphatic win over Perth Glory.

Victory overwhelmed Perth 4-1 in a high-quality encounter at AAMI Park on Saturday night.

Victory are second on 45 points, 11 adrift of Sydney FC with four rounds to play, with Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar unlikely to catch them 12 points back.

"We've got to use these games to improve ourselves," Muscat told Fox Sports.

"We know to get to the grand final and to win it, you've got to be performing really well, at your top.

"We asked the group during the week and today ... because our good has been very good, it's been enough but we haven't quite done that for long enough in games.

"That's been the focus, let's start preparing for the finals by being good for longer.

"As the second half went on, I thought that's exactly what we did tonight and we took some chances and in the end, there were a plethora of chances we maybe could have scored from."

Perth opened the scoring through Diego Castro, but then Besart Berisha, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Marco Rojas and James Troisi all found the net for Victory.

Glory had two big penalty shouts denied, with Andy Keogh and Castro brought down in the first half.

"I'm a long way away but when I see Andy getting quite distraught - he's a genuine kid who plays the game the right way and he was upset - there's got to be something in it," coach Kenny Lowe said.

"I can't see the replay, I looked at the screen once and I saw a cheeky little rugby tackle Jonathan Thurston would have been proud of.

"But hey, if the ref's four yards away and he misses that, Spec Savers (for glasses) ... I think for him."
