No new cases of coronavirus have been detected in New South Wales, marking the first day of zero infections in more than three months.

In the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday, no new COVID-19 cases were detected in more than 12,300 tests. The last time the state recorded no new cases was 10 June.
A total of 4,029 cases have been detected in the state since the beginning of the pandemic, with three people being treated in intensive care.

No locally-acquired cases were detected on Saturday either, with only a single infection recorded in hotel quarantine.

A mystery case announced on Friday broke a three-day run without any community transmission in the state. The man in his 50s from Sydney's south-west had not been in contact with a previously confirmed case.
NSW Health spokesperson Christine Selvey on Sunday urged NSW residents to remain vigilant and continue to get tested if they experience symptoms.

"This is particularly important with the start of the school holidays and increased movement of people around the state," she said.

The lack of new cases in NSW coincides with dropping infection rates in Victoria, which recorded 16 new cases and two deaths on Sunday.

As a result, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will announce the easing of some Stage 4 restrictions on Sunday, including an increase to the maximum number of people who can gather outdoors and the staged return of some students to in-class learning.

People in Australia must stay at least 1.5 metres away from others. Check your state’s restrictions on gathering limits. If you are experiencing cold or flu symptoms, stay home and arrange a test by calling your doctor or contact the Coronavirus Health Information Hotline on 1800 020 080. News and information is available in 63 languages at sbs.com.au/coronavirus.
