Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has backed crucial bunker call to award North Queensland winger Kyle Feldt a match-turning try in their preliminary final clash.
The Roosters led by two with 15 minutes to go before Feldt was ruled to have got a ball down within centimetres of the right in-goal touchline to give the Cowboys a four-point lead.
The call went up as a try, and the bunker ruled it had evidence to support the call that the bulk of the ball was planted first before the part over the touchline hit the ground.
The Roosters never hit the lead again as they crashed out of the finals from second spot, but Robinson said he had no problems with the call.
"Yeah I think (I was OK with it)," Robinson said.
"It was hard to tell for me. They've got that there. It was dependent on what they sent it up. That's more than fine.
"It shouldn't have got that close."
Robinson stands in contrast with rival coaches Trent Barrett and Shane Flanagan, who both criticised match officials after Manly and Cronulla's respective week-one exits from the finals.
Both clubs have been fined - Manly $20,000 and the Sharks $30,000 - and entered responses to breach noticed in the past week to try and reduce the punishment.
But unlike his fellow coaches, Robinson admitted his team had caused their own downfall after they completed just 65 per cent of their sets and as a result had only 42 per cent of the ball.
"Periods of the game we both went tit for tat and it was a good arm wrestle there," Robinson sad.
"The areas we conceded we didn't defend well enough, especially in the second half.
"If you're going to have those errors we had you better be defending well. "
