Nokia says it has signed a 1.36-billion-euro ($A2.07 billion) framework deal with China Mobile to provide the operator with infrastructure and equipment for operating a cloud network.
The Finnish telecoms company said on Monday the one-year deal with its key Chinese client entails "seamless connectivity that will more efficiently meet the ever-growing data demands" of subscribers to the world's largest mobile operator.
Nokia said it will, among other things, provide China Mobile with a new type of 5G-ready base station allowing numerous radio technologies to operate at the same time and support various connection speeds in one base station.
China Mobile is Nokia's largest client in China and a longstanding business partner with ties dating back to 1994.
