North Melbourne have injected some pace into their AFL line-up to face West Coast, with speedy forward Jed Anderson returning from a lengthy injury layoff.

The former Hawk suffered a serious hamstring injury playing his first game for his new team in round one, with his return confirmed on Friday when extended squads for Sunday's matches were released.

He replaces Robin Nahas (omitted) in the team who have lost four of their past five games to slide from top of the ladder to seventh, while the Eagles have brought in Josh Hill at the expense of Jackson Nelson for the clash at Subiaco.

Carlton welcome back Dennis Armfield from a ruptured testicle for Sunday's early game against Adelaide at the MCG. The Crows have also made one change, defender Ricky Henderson replacing Luke Brown, who is out with a groin injury.

Essendon fans will have to wait at least another week to watch Aaron Francis make his much-anticipated AFL debut, with the exciting youngster not among six inclusions made by coach John Worsfold.
