Northern Sinai car bomb kills two: Egypt

Two Egyptian soldiers have been killed by a road-side car bomb in northern Sinai, officials say.

Egypt's Interior Ministry says two soldiers have been killed by a road-side car bomb in northern Sinai.

The ministry said in a statement that 16 other soldiers were injured in the explosion on Saturday in the provincial capital el-Arish. The car, parked on the side of the road, exploded when the soldiers' vehicle was passing by, according to the statement.

In a statement posted on a jihadist website, an Islamic State affiliate in Egypt claimed responsibility for the attack.
