Damaging utility Daniel Wells will return for unbeaten North Melbourne in their AFL fixture against Sydney.

Wells, who has missed the past two games because of achilles soreness, and Sam Wright replace Aaron Mullett and Farren Ray, while the Swans have rewarded Harry Marsh's perseverance with an AFL debut on Friday night.

Marsh was delisted at the end of 2015 after three years with Sydney, then re-drafted on the rookie list. He replaces Ted Richards (concussion).

Port Adelaide have summoned first-year ruckman Dougal Howard as a replacement for suspended Tom Jonas for Saturday's clash against Melbourne in Alice Springs.

The Demons have called on Dom Tyson and Neville Jetta, with Clayton Oliver (thigh) and Viv Michie (omitted) out.

Fremantle have made five changes - four forced by injury - for its away match on Saturday against St Kilda.

The winless Dockers have lost David Mundy (calf), Alex Pearce (Leg), Clancee Pearce (concussion), Ethan Hughes (calf) and dumped Zac Clarke.

Midfielders Michael Barlow and Stephen Hill are among the replacements.

St Kilda have lost emerging onballers Jack Billings (ankle) and Jimmy Webster (illness).

Meanwhile, Hawthorn are favouring Matt Spangher over Kaiden Brand for their away trip to Brisbane, who have omitted Billy Evans for recalled Tom Cutler.

Adelaide have kept an unchanged side to host Greater Western Sydney at Adelaide Oval, and the Giants are replacing Tim Mohr (hamstring) and Matt Buntine (concussion) with Adam Tomlinson and Jack Steele.

Essendon have made three changes for Saturday night's MCG encounter against Richmond, recalling Courtenay Dempsey, Shaun Edwards and Ryan Crowley at the expense of Conor McKenna, James Polkinghorne and Mason Redman.

The Tigers included David Astbury, Daniel Rioli and Corey Ellis with Troy Chaplin (hip) unavailable, and Connor Menadue and Jayden Short dropped.

In Sunday selections, Carlton have named talls Matthew Kreuzer and Levi Casboult - despite both suffering knee injuries last weekend - in an extended squad to play Geelong.

The Cats are resting Daniel Menzel because of soreness and are including Tom Lonergan, Billie Smedts, Jordan Murdoch and Jake Kolodjashnij in their extended squad.

Luckless Gold Coast have lost another five players to injury for Sunday's away match against West Coast: Darcy MacPherson (knee), Sam Day (hip), Daniel Currie (finger), Jarrad Grant (hamstring) and Callum Ah Chee (concussion).

Captain Gary Ablett and Steven May headline the inclusions for the Suns, while West Coast have lost Elliot Yeo (thigh) and Andrew Gaff (concussion).
