NRL, clubs end marathon talks on TV spoils

After marathon talks, The NRL and all 16 club chairmen are apparently a step closer to agreeing on how to carve up the league's record $1.8bn TV deal.

The NRL and all 16 club chairmen are apparently a step closer to agreeing on how to carve up the league's record $1.8 billion TV deal.

Marathon talks at Rugby League Central ended with no official statement from the NRL by late Wednesday night.

However, Fairfax Media is quoting Melbourne chairman Bart Campbell - a spokesperson for the 16 teams - as saying the club view is that the day-long meeting had been positive.

"We all made meaningful progress on a whole-of-game funding model," he said.

Most of the 16 NRL clubs have been pushing the game's governing body for a greater share of revenue, with the league having signed off on the record broadcast deal.
