Brisbane great Steve Renouf says the NRL has to do something to end the game's coaching carousel.
Renouf's former coach Wayne Bennett is embroiled in an ongoing saga at Red Hill about his future after the news he and South Sydney coach Anthony Seibold will swap roles for 2020.
The move has prompted a debate about whether the pair should switch roles immediately, although both men are saying they're committed to seeing out their current contracts.
Ivan Cleary has also left the Wests Tigers to return to Penrith in another controversial off-season coaching move.
Renouf says the continuing sagas are a turn-off for fans.

"This whole thing - you could nearly call it a circus - hasn't been great since it started," he told AAP.
"I know there's a lot more machinations around this sort of stuff than there used to be ... I'd love to see the NRL jump on top of stuff like this so these sort of things don't happen.
"They're at the whim of player and coach managers and I just think somehow the hierarchy need to do something about it."
Last week, the NRL announced it was considering the introduction of up to two player transfer windows per year as early as the 2020 season.
Under the proposed scheme, clubs will be unable to announce player signings outside of the trade periods.
Several leading clubs are believed to be in support of the idea as well as a prohibition on coaches signing with other clubs a year before their contract expires.
The Rugby League Players' Association has welcomed the transfer window idea but says it wants proof of its viability before giving it the tick of approval.
