Canterbury player Jacob Loko is being investigated by police in relation to the alleged possession of the drug ecstasy, the NRL club has confirmed.
The 23 year-old was arrested at Sydney's Star City Casino on Saturday morning after police allegedly found a small amount of MDMA.
But no charges have been laid and he was released at the scene, pending further investigations, a police spokeswoman said.
Another man, 22, was also allegedly caught with MDMA.
He has been charged with supplying drugs and is due before the Downing Centre Local Court later this month.
No longer under contract with the club, Loko may struggle to link with another NRL team after a string of incidents this year.
In February he pleaded guilty to high range drink driving at Manly Local Court after returning a blood alcohol reading almost four times over the legal limit.
He was hit with a four match ban and fined $10,000 after getting into a drunken brawl with Manly winger George Taufua outside a Sydney bar in May.
The Bulldogs said in a statement that the NRL integrity unit has been notified and that the club will continue to investigate the issue alongside police.
"Whilst contracted to the club until the end of the month, Loko has been told he would not have his contract renewed for 2016," the Bulldogs statement continued.
