NRL round four snapshot

A snapshot of round four of the NRL.

* QUOTE OF THE ROUND: "I made some stuff up about their forward pack was going to challenge ours ... It was just a bit of a white lie there." - Cronulla coach SHANE FLANAGAN on how he fired his forward pack up by lying about statistics ahead of their 20-6 win over Parramatta.

* MAN OF THE ROUND: DALY CHERRY-EVANS set up five tries against a hapless Canterbury on Saturday. The 36-0 win broke a 237-day drought at Lottoland for Manly.

* STAT THAT MATTERS: Just one of the past eight teams to have sacked their coach mid-season have won the following week, after the Tigers went down 22-14 to Melbourne at Leichhardt on Sunday.

* MAGIC MOMENT: Instead of a distracted Anthony Milford, Brisbane winger JORDAN KAHU surprises everyone by stepping up to pot home a 30m match-winning field goal in the 74th minute to seal a 13-12 win over Canberra on Friday night.

* TALKING POINT: Sam Burgess and Siosifa Talakai were both taken off for concussion checks after staying on the field for minutes after being "slow to rise" in South Sydney's loss to the Sydney Roosters. The delay came in a week where three clubs were fined a total of $350,000 for alleged breaches in the concussion protocol.

* JUDICIARY WATCH: Raiders - Elliott Whitehead (tripping), Bulldogs - Moses Mbye (shoulder charge), Titans - Ryan James (shoulder charge).

* CASUALTY WARD: Rabbitohs - Sam Burgess (concussion), Raiders - Josh Hodgson (sternum), Sharks - Wade Graham (leg), Storm - Christian Welch (concussion), Tigers - Luke Brooks (hamstring), Joel Edwards (concussion), Warriors - Kieran Foran (hamstring).

* UNDER PRESSURE: DES HASLER - Off-contract at the end of year, he has lost seven of his past eight in charge at Canterbury and Saturday's 36-0 loss to Manly was one of the Bulldogs' worst displays in years.
