The New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council is under fire from some of its member over wide-ranging mining proposals for the state.

The Illawarra Local Aboriginal Land Council is planning a major protest at the NSWALC office next week.

Many of the state's 119 land councils are angry that they only learnt of their peak body's coal seam gas mining plans through media reports.
