The NSW attorney-general wants an electronic monitoring bracelet fitted to convicted rapist Graham Kay who breached his supervision orders after his release from prison.
Attorney-General Mark Speakman on Friday confirmed he had instructed the Crown Solicitor's Office to apply to the Supreme Court to vary Kay's extended supervision order.
Mr Speakman said he had sought to have the ankle bracelet fitted to Kay "in view of changed circumstances".
Kay, who was released from prison in 2015 after serving 18 years for six sexual assaults between 1995 and 1996, pleaded guilty to breaching his order earlier this month.
The breaches relate to Kay not disclosing to authorities he was having "an intimate relationship" with an escort.

The prosecution has suggested the magistrate consider sentencing him to a short jail term.
If he's jailed, Kay's extended supervision order would be paused and then resume once he's released again. Kay is due to be sentenced on Monday.
