The cost of the NSW bushfires has risen to $145 million.

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) says more than 1000 claims have been made with over 90 per cent of damaged and destroyed properties assessed.

Some people have already received payouts, the ICA says.

"Insurers have responded quickly and we believe this is in the best interest of residents and business owners," CEO Rob Whalen said.
