NSW Catholic teacher 'filmed students'

A teacher at a Catholic primary school on the NSW south coast will face court charged with filming female students under their desks.

A NSW Catholic primary school teacher used a mobile phone to secretly film girls' underwear under their desks, police allege.

The 40-year-old man, formerly a casual teacher at the Kiama school run by the Wollongong Catholic diocese, was arrested at his Central Coast home on Wednesday.

He no longer teaches at the school.

Police were acting on information from the diocese, which also provided them with the mobile phone.

He's been charged with producing/disseminating child abuse material and filming a person's private parts without consent.

The teacher was granted conditional bail and will appear at Wollongong local court on August 20.

Police expect to lay more charges.
