Outgoing Cricket NSW boss Andrew Jones has taken a parting shot at "haphazard" selections and the overall process in which talent is picked to play for Australia.
Jones will step down as Cricket NSW chief executive at the end of this season, with Sydney Thunder general manager Lee Germon to be his successor.
Jones, who was instrumental in launching the men's and women's Big Bash Leagues, suggested on Saturday that selection is a bigger concern for Cricket Australia (CA) than the schedule.
"I do think our selections have been haphazard for a number of years," Jones told radio station SEN.
"That came up in the (2011) Argus review and not much has changed to be honest. We often don't pick the players with the best records.

"We also chop and change ... the impact of poor selections for players, their lives, financially, is quite profound.
"The system works well when players have confidence they will get what they deserve."
Jones proposed that head coach Justin Langer should be empowered to take charge of the selection process.
"In NSW we changed the structure to make the coach accountable for performance of the team and therefore selection," Jones said.
"That's what I would do ... if you look at most other professional sports teams, Man United for example, did Alex Ferguson have a selection panel?
"The coach needs to pick the team ... he has to live and die by the decisions, he has to make the call and be judged on the results."
The Blues sacked Trent Johnston as coach last year but have enjoyed a bright start to the current Sheffield Shield season under Phil Jaques.
Jones noted he'd brought the issue up with former Cricket Australia team performance boss Pat Howard in the past.
Jones wouldn't have commissioned The Ethics Centre review, saying CA was "sucked into a washing machine they didn't need to", and claimed that David Warner's path back to Test cricket is not as easy as Steve Smith's.
"The more credit in the bank, the easier it is," he said.
"The less credit you have, the harder it is but ... he'll have learnt a lot."
