Communities affected by the devastating bushfires in New South Wales will "rally together" as Australians always do in difficult times, Prime Minister Tony Abbott says.

As the fires continue to blaze, Mr Abbott said it was appropriate to remember all those who lost their homes over the past few days.

"We remember them, we remember their communities," he told the South Australian Liberal Party annual meeting in Adelaide on Saturday.

"We send our best wishes to them as they confront loss, as they confront challenge, as they rally together as Australians always do in difficult times."

Mr Abbott said it was also appropriate to remember those on the frontline of the fires.
