Homicide and forensic police are still working to identify a man almost a week after a motorist found his body bundled up and dumped on a busy Sydney road.
Police spent last Thursday morning combing through bushland along Homebush Bay Drive, not far from Sydney's Olympic Park, after a motorist spotted the body on Wednesday evening.
The driver had reportedly pulled over on the roadside amid bad weather and saw the bundle.
The body, which police have not yet identified, was covered and left on the shoulder of the major road.
It was left in the open, just metres from bush and parkland.
Forensic police, without unwrapping the body, took it to a morgue for an autopsy and forensic tests.
But they have been only been able to establish the deceased was male.
His ethnicity, age, injuries, cause of death and identifying features have yet to be released to the public as the investigation continues, NSW Police told AAP on Monday.
The death is being treated as suspicious and homicide police are still involved in the case.
