A fleet of 28 new highway patrol cars will be rolled out across NSW roads cracking down on dangerous drivers and a climbing road toll.
More than 285 people have died on NSW roads this year, almost 40 more than this time last year, with speeding the number one killer.
Minister from Roads Duncan Gay described the campaign as a "win, win" situation.
"It is not just making sure you are doing the right thing and finding you, (it's the) presence that is out there as a deterrent and that is the key with what we are doing," he said in Sydney on Tuesday.
Half of the 28 highway patrol cars, part of a $4.8 million campaign funded by the Community Road Safety Fund, have already been delivered. The remaining 14 will be on the roads by next year.

"Every death is a person. We want to try and get it (the number) back to zero," Mr Gay said.
Of the 286 road deaths, more than half have happened on rural roads.
The fleet will include seven brand new 4WDs that will be used on regional roads where standard police cars cannot travel.
Speeding remains the biggest loss of lives, followed by drink and drug driving and fatigue.
Acting assistant commissioner David Driver implored motorists to avoid rushing on roads and to stick to the road laws.
"Speed is accounting for too much carnage on our roads, if we can get people to comply with the law, drive not only to the speed limits but to the applicable conditions, then we will reduce this number," he said.
