NSW flood victims remembered by loved ones

Those close to the men who both died in NSW floodwaters, named as Robbie Pollard, 65, and Ahmed Elomar, 70, have taken to social media to mourn them.

A man who died after his car was swept away in floodwaters in the NSW Southern Highlands has been remembered by locals as "a funny bugger" who always loved a chat at the RSL.

Named in media as Robbie Pollard, the 65-year-old was found dead in his silver Mazda in Mittagong Creek near Bowral on Monday morning after being reported missing on Sunday.

Mr Pollard is one of two men to die in NSW since ferocious storms lashed the state at the weekend.

He was reportedly attempting to do a u-turn away from floodwaters when his car, with its hazard lights flashing, was taken by the torrent and swept downstream.

Musician Johnny Spitz, who regularly performs at Mittagong RSL Club, says Mr Pollard would put forward song requests "without fail" at every gig, including Boot Scootin' Boogie and the Nutbush.

"For someone who lived and loved life, this is shattering," Mr Spitz said in a post on Facebook.

"An example to others to just get on the dance floor and live your life no matter what disability or challenges you have."

Local man Aaron George also paid his respects to the "great man" of the town.

"You made the RSL visit fun, and you where never shy to talk about the footy. R.I.P. Robbie you'll be missed by many." Mr George posted to Facebook.

Meanwhile, a man who drowned when his ute was swept away by floodwaters in Leppington near Camden in Sydney's southwest has been named in media as 70-year-old Ahmed Elomar.

Police say he had been attempting to cross a causeway.

His body was retrieved by divers from his submerged vehicle in Riley's Creek on Monday morning.

Those who knew Mr Elomar said they will remember him in their dua, or Islamic act of worship.

Western Sydney man Fer Sat took to Facebook calling on Allah to "make it easy" for Mr Elomar's family.
