NSW in for more showers this weekend

Another wet weekend is on the way for parts of the state, following freak storms which battered Sydney and parts of NSW last weekend.

NSW is in for another rainy weekend, but conditions are likely to be much calmer than the recent wild weather and freak storms.

The weather bureau says parts of the state, especially the coast, will be doused by more showers on Friday through to Sunday.

"The majority of the rainfall will occur in the northeast of the state with lesser amounts in the west and south," Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Andrew Haigh told AAP on Monday.

The forecast comes after freak storms ravaged Sydney and parts of NSW over the weekend, causing $42 million worth of damage, with insurance claims still rolling in.

Three women were struck by lightning in the Southern Highlands as heavy winds and rain battered the state last Friday and Saturday.

Dry and sunny conditions will give the state the chance to dry off before the showers hit in Sydney and the NSW coast on Friday.
