NSW Labor has edge on key issues: Newspoll

A Newspoll has shown that the coalition is strong on the big picture topics such as the economy but Labor has the edge on daily issues such as power prices.

NSW voters are giving Labor the lead when it comes to climate, health and education while the coalition is more trusted on the economy, infrastructure and law and order, a poll shows.

Labor's "Schools and Hospitals before Stadiums" slogan has resonated with voters, according to an issues Newspoll in The Australian on Wednesday. This is despite the coalition government's strong spend on schools and hospitals.

The opposition's strong push on renewables underlines the concerns of voters over high electricity prices, which ties into its lead on the environment.

The cost blowouts and delays on the CBD light rail project has hurt Premier Gladys Berejiklian, the newspaper says, allowing Labor to be on even standing with the coalition on transport.

The Newspoll canvassed 1003 NSW voters.
