NSW Labor leader Luke Foley could reportedly face a leadership challenge within months if internal polling set for September shows the opposition party falling short.
The Australian on Friday cited a Labor source as saying "they're doing polling next month and that will determine his future" with deputy leader Michael Daley, transport spokeswoman Jodi McKay and Treasury spokesman Ryan Park seen as possible alternatives.
Labor party rules requiring a ballot of all ordinary members in a leadership election do not apply after September 23 because the state goes to the polls within six months, in March 2019, and under those conditions caucus alone can determine the leader.
