A kitchen confrontation in Sydney that left a man with stab wounds to his face, neck and chest has led to his boyfriend being charged with attempted murder.

A 35-year-old man was found with stab wounds in a Strathfield unit on Wednesday night.

Police allege the two men were arguing in a kitchen when the 35-year-old was stabbed several times.

He is recovering in hospital in a serious condition.

His boyfriend allegedly fled the unit and wasn't arrested until Thursday night at a home in Woodcroft.

The 26-year-old was charged with attempted murder and is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Friday.
