A NSW man will remain behind bars following the stabbing death of his estranged girlfriend.
Russell Brian Wood, 26, was one of several men to appear in a Sydney court on Sunday accused of attacks on women, after a horror week which saw three NSW people killed in alleged acts of domestic violence.
Wood was charged with the murder of his estranged girlfriend Sarah Brown after the 30-year-old was found with a stab wound in Sydney's west about 2am on Saturday.
Ms Brown, a mother of five, died at the scene after paramedics were called to a home on Moresby Street, Whalan.
Wood didn't appear or apply for bail when his matter was mentioned in Parramatta Local Court on Sunday, and it was formally refused ahead of another scheduled appearance next month.

A 49-year-old man also had his first mention in the same court for allegedly holding his female partner, a baby and a toddler against their will for over two days.
Police say the Parramatta man threatened the 30-year-old woman, hit her and cut her hair before she escaped a Cabramatta unit with the children on Saturday.
He didn't appear at his mention or apply for bail, and his case is expected to return to court on October 5.
Another accused man, Danial Murad, tried on Sunday afternoon to make his case for bail to magistrate Michael Morahan after he allegedly kicked in a former girlfriend's door and assaulted her.
"I'll be respectful, I'll follow whatever you give me," Murad said.
He promised he would report daily to a police station and get his mother to sign for bail, but the judge said he wouldn't grant bail as Murad didn't have a good record and was on remand for other offences.
The 27-year-old is scheduled for another mention for October 3.
This weekend's alleged domestic violence offences follow two other deaths in NSW in less than a week.
Central coast mother Blair Dalton, 35, was allegedly strangled and beaten by her former partner Lance Michael Pearce on Tuesday, and died in Gosford Hospital two days later.
Pearce was found dead in his cell on Friday in non-suspicious circumstances.
An elderly man also died in Sydney's southwest on Friday morning after he was stabbed.
Steve Bojnovic, 39, is charged with his murder, with his case adjourned in Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday.
