NSW man charged over fatal stabbing

A NSW man accused of stabbing dead a 37-year-old man in a Wagga Wagga park has been charged with murder.

A man has been charged with murder after another man was fatally stabbed in the thigh during a fight in a southern NSW park.

The 37-year-old victim was found collapsed and bleeding in the driveway of a home at Wagga Wagga early on Tuesday morning.

Paramedics performed the CPR on the man, believed to be from neighbouring Junee, but he died.

A 38-year-old man arrested after the attack was charged over the fatal stabbing on Tuesday night, police say.

He was refused bail and is due to face Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday.

The men were both known to police but the victim is yet to be formally identified.

Officers were also hunting for a weapon, Wagga Wagga acting crime manager, Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Sheaf told reporters.

"Police are appealing to anybody who had dealings with the (37-year-old) man earlier in the night - particularly we believe two females who may have spent time with him earlier in the evening - to come forward and speak to police," he said.
