NSW man charged over paramedic assault

A man is behind bars after allegedly throwing a female paramedic across a room in a brazen assault that's left three paramedics injured.

A 26-year-old man is behind bars, accused of throwing a female paramedic across a room as she tried to treat him in a violent incident in Sydney's southwest.

Paramedics were called to an Ambarvale home about 12.30am on Monday following reports the man needed help - but he became violent, throwing one across the room and assaulting and injuring two others, police say.

Police arrested the man and subdued him with pepper spray when he rushed at them while handcuffed.

He has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later on Monday.

A 23-year-old woman who tried to stop the man's arrest has also been charged after she allegedly assaulted a paramedic who tried to restrain her.
