NSW man charged with lighting fires

A man will face court charged with lighting two fires in NSW's central west where a total fire ban has been in place for days.

A man will face court charged with deliberately lighting two fires in NSW's central west.

The 33-year-old from Forbes is accused of lighting two fires along The Escort Way, about 50 kilometres west of Orange overnight.

A total fire ban was in place at the time.

A motorist who saw and extinguished a fire alerted police.

The man was arrested at the scene and will appear in Orange Local Court on Friday.
