A man who was found shot on a street in Sydney's west is in a critical condition.

The 34-year-old was found by emergency services who attended an address in Mount Druitt on Monday night after reports a man had been shot, police said.

"He was found on the street or in the gutter, it (the attack) wasn't in a house," a NSW Police spokeswoman told News Corp.

The man, who was reportedly shot in the stomach, was treated at the scene by emergency services before being taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

Police say the man is now critical.
