Disgraced NSW MP Daryl Maguire has asked for privacy following the death of his son-in-law after a short illness.
Amid calls for him to quit state politics, the former parliamentary secretary said he won't be making any further comment on the corruption inquiry that led to his resignation from the Liberal Party last week.
"A member of Mr Maguire's immediate family has passed away and Mr Maguire has left the electorate to be with his family," a statement released on his behalf said.
"Mr Maguire asks that he and his family be provided with some privacy at this time. It is business as usual for the Wagga Wagga electorate office."
It is expected he will be back at parliament when it resumes on August 7, his spokeswoman said.

Mr Maguire quit the Liberals and his role as a parliamentary secretary on Friday after a corruption inquiry heard secret recordings of him, with a local councillor, discussing potential commissions from property deals with a wealthy Chinese developer.
Acting NSW Premier John Barilaro on Wednesday joined the chorus calling for Mr Maguire to quit parliament altogether.
"The people of Wagga Wagga have made it clear they would like to see Daryl resign so therefore it's clear that Daryl Maguire should resign as a member of parliament," Mr Barilaro told reporters in Sydney.
NSW Labor threatened to move to expel Mr Maguire if he doesn't quit before parliament resumes.
But despite the mounting pressure, he has so far refused to quit as an MP. He did, however, announce on Monday he won't recontest the next state election in March 2019.
