NSW must get in Qld's face: Roach

NSW great Steve Roach reckons sledging might be the Blues' best chance to conquer Queensland - and the approach could already be working.

Sledging may be NSW's best weapon against an all conquering Queensland, Blues great Steve Roach says.

And it may already be working.

There was speculation David Klemmer was in Corey Parker's head before the June 1 State of Origin opener after the Maroons lock appeared to cut short a TV interview about the fiery NSW forward this week.

In just his second Origin, Klemmer lit the fuse when he told the veteran Maroon to "get f---ed" in game two at the MCG won by NSW 26-18.

He was slammed north of the border for being disrespectful but hailed south of the Tweed River for standing up to a Queensland great.

Klemmer did his best to reignite the feud this week when he claimed he had no regrets over the infamous sledge, saying respect was a two way street.

Parker appeared in no mood to discuss Klemmer's latest comment, ending a TV interview when asked about the NSW forward at the Queensland team media session on the Gold Coast.

"That's something for you guys to write about, there's no reignition going on - cheers," Parker said before walking off.

Roach said adopting Klemmer's in-your-face approach was NSW's best chance to send skipper Paul Gallen out a winner in his Origin swansong.

"If we go out set for set with them and play an open style of football there's no doubt they have the experience on NSW (to beat them)," Roach told Fox Sports TV.

"We have to go out and try and upset them.

"I think that was the perfect recipe in the second game down in Melbourne last year.

"I would be surprised if they didn't play like that again."

Klemmer will start on the Blues bench for Origin I in Sydney after Queensland wrestled back their Origin dominance with a record 52-6 game three win last year.

It sealed their ninth series win in 10 years.
