NSW sledgehammer gang's fruitless break-in

A gang of four have used sledgehammers to smash down a Sydney restaurant door but when they searched for cash, found none.

Four balaclava-clad people armed with sledgehammers staged a dramatic break-in at a Sydney restaurant but their efforts to rob the place were fruitless.

Two cleaners were startled when the front glass door of the Rosebery eatery was smashed open just before 3am on Saturday morning and the gang of four searched, unsuccessfully, for cash, and then fled the scene in a silver hatchback.

Police are appealing for help to identify the four people.
