Police say they were called to the girl's Port Macquarie home on Saturday morning to break up a fight between her and a 21-year-old man.

Officers separated the two in the backyard but they turned on them, with the girl allegedly using a "decorative garden wheel" made of cast iron to hit a female constable.

The girl has been charged with arming herself with intent to commit an offence, wounding a police officer, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and malicious damage.
