The NSW town of Wagga Wagga is doing its bit to lift the world's spirits following the Paris terror attacks.
Locals Dale Allison and Scott Cochrane wrote and recorded a song, The World Sang La Marseillaise, as a act of defiance towards the terrorists responsible for the deaths of 130 people.
Mr Cochrane told Fairfax Media he started writing the song as the aftermath of the terror attacks unfolded.
"I brought (the lyrics) to Dale and he said ‘what do you want to do with it?’" he said.
"We agreed that people need to hear this.”
The song was completed and recorded in just three days with the help of a lead singers, a choir and a band drawn from Wagga itself.
"It's dreadful, it's awaful what they're doing, it's so frightening," Mr Allison told Prime 7 news.
"It's the smallest little thing that maybe, perhaps, this song...there might be something positive in there that someone can grab on to. So you know what? We can stand united."
"We had no trouble finding a choir, a band, some lead singers within three days to finish the whole thing in three days. It just gathered a huge momentum, and that came across in the projection of the voices that were singing," said Mr Cochrane.
The lyrics call for people to "Stand up, stop crying/ We'll rise together/ We'll kneel, not ever".
"Did you really think/ you could take the heart of Paris./ With your vile and evil/ wicked upheaval," the song goes.
"Did you really think/ you could break the back of Paris./ Happy to defy you./ United we deny you."
Mr Allison said he hopes that song will be heard around the world and will encourage people to take courage and stand up against terrorism.
"Really, we're a free world and we yearn for a free world and I think that's what we have in common," he said.
