NSW town mourns after mother, son deaths

A 47-year-old woman and her nine-year-old boy have been found dead in a Central Coast home with NSW police believing no one else is involved in their deaths.

A woman is believed to have killed her young son before taking her own life, leaving a NSW Central Coast town in mourning.

The bodies of the 47-year-old and the nine-year-old were discovered in a home in Wyongah just before 2pm on Tuesday.

AAP understands the deaths are being treated as a murder-suicide and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Tuggerawong Public School principal Grant McFarland confirmed the boy was a student at the school.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, he told parents the school would be open on Wednesday and support would be available for students.

"It is your personal decision about what sensitive discussions you may choose to have with your children tonight," he said.

"Our heartfelt thoughts are with our much-valued student's family and friends at this time."

Parents of the boy's schoolmates posted heartfelt tributes online.

"I cant stop the tears from streaming down my son's face, going to hit him hard being in his classroom," one parent wrote. "This news is heartbreaking."
