NSW truck crash kills 300 sheep

A truck carrying livestock has overturned south of Dubbo in NSW, killing hundreds of sheep. The driver sustained minor injuries.

Hundreds of sheep have been killed in a livestock truck rollover over near Dubbo, NSW.

The four-deck single trailer truck overturned about 9am on Tuesday on the Renshaw-McGirr Way about 12km south of Yeoval, a NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman told AAP.

About 300 of the 415 sheep are believed to have been killed in the accident, he says.

RFS crews rounded up the surviving livestock while the State Emergency Service cut through the trailer to gain access to some of the more injured sheep, he said.

The driver escaped with minor injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition, Fairfax Media reports.
