The NSW Treasurer wants more commonwealth cash for his state's big road, rail and airport projects.

Dominic Perrottet is hoping Tuesday's federal budget will include more funding to supplement NSW's almost $90 billion infrastructure spend.

Mr Perrottet singled out the upgrade of the Princess Highway to Wollongong and a metro linking the CBD to Parramatta as projects for which he'd like a commonwealth top.

"No state in Australia is doing more to improve infrastructure than NSW," Mr Perrottet told AAP in a statement.

"Last year NSW advocated strongly for a fairer deal on GST and this resulted in a guarantee that no state is worse off under the new sharing arrangement."

The NSW government has committed $6.4 billion to Metro West.

The project will take about eight years to complete and has reportedly been estimated to cost $18 billion.

Mr Perrottet said he'd also like more commonwealth support for infrastructure servicing the new western Sydney airport.

NSW received just $1.5 billion of the almost $25 billion set aside in last year's federal budget for infrastructure projects Australia-wide.

"I look forward to Tuesday's federal budget, and continuing to work with my federal counterpart Josh Frydenberg and with Prime Minister Scott Morrison to deliver the best outcome for NSW," Mr Perrottet said.

NSW TREASURER'S WISHLIST

* Funding for upgrade of Princess Highway

* Funding for Metro West

* Support for infrastructure associated with the airport
