The incident occurred about 6pm on Saturday when the 26-year-old man allegedly hit his partner, also 26, with the bat before forcing her into a car with him.

Police allege he then drove around the area, refusing to release her and hitting her again with the bat.

She was released at a home in Glenfield Park, where she called police.

They arrested the man and charged him with eight assault and intimidation and kidnapping offences.

He faces Wagga Wagga Court on Monday and police have applied for an urgent provisional AVO.
