A woman has been stabbed after two masked men entered her southwest Sydney home with a knife and a hammer.

Police say the men had their faces covered with a shirt and a balaclava when they entered the Minto home before 8:30am on Saturday.

The woman, who was stabbed after she pulled the shirt from one of the men's faces, suffered a minor stab wound to the chest and a laceration to her hand, before the intruders fled over a rear fence, police say.

The members of the dog squad and POLAIR were among the police to search the area for the men, who are both described as being in their late teens or early 20s.

One had blue eyes and wore a dark hoodie with a balaclava, police say.
